These terms cover your use of the Tack Studio website (tackstudio.co), our After Effects tools (the "Products"), and the Tack Studio desktop app (the "App"), which you use to download, activate, and manage your Products. By purchasing or using a Product, or by using the App, you agree to these terms. Tack Studio is a limited company based in the United Kingdom.

01 — Your license

When you buy a Product, you're buying a license to use it, not the software itself — we retain all intellectual property rights. Your license is non-exclusive and non-transferable, and allows one person to use the Product. You can install it on up to two machines you own or control (for example, your desktop and your laptop), as long as you're the one using it.

If a team or studio wants to use a Product, each user needs their own license.

You're welcome to use the Products for commercial work. Anything you create with them is entirely yours.

The App is provided free of charge for downloading, activating, and managing your Products, and these terms apply to it in the same way.

02 — What you can't do

You may not share your license key, resell or redistribute the Products, or make them available to more users than you've purchased licenses for. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the Products or the App, or extract parts of them for use elsewhere. And you may not repackage the Products, or scripts and expressions they generate, for resale as part of templates, stock assets, or marketplace items.

We may deactivate license keys that are shared, resold, involved in a chargeback, or otherwise used in breach of these terms.

03 — Compatibility and updates

Each Product supports the After Effects versions listed on its product page. Adobe updates After Effects regularly, and occasionally those updates change or break the APIs our Products rely on. We work to maintain compatibility with current After Effects versions, but we can't guarantee that a Product will work with future versions of After Effects or your operating system.

Your license includes all updates to the version you purchased. Major new versions may be sold as paid upgrades, with a discount for existing customers.

04 — Purchases

Payments are processed by Polar Software Inc. ("Polar"), acting as our merchant of record. Polar handles checkout, payment methods, invoicing, and applicable taxes (VAT/GST), under its buyer terms at polar.sh/legal/terms. By purchasing, you confirm you have the right to use the payment method provided and that the details you supply are accurate. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where we suspect fraud or where a Product has been incorrectly priced or described in error.

05 — Delivery

Products are delivered electronically. Your license key and App download link are sent to your purchase email immediately after checkout. You can retrieve your licenses at any time via the App.

06 — Refunds

If something isn't working, contact us first — most issues can be resolved, and we'd rather fix your problem than lose you as a customer. If we can't resolve it, we'll refund you. Refunds can be processed up to 30 days after purchase.

If you're a consumer in the UK or EU, you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a purchase of digital content. By downloading or activating a Product within that period, you consent to immediate supply and acknowledge that the statutory cancellation right ends once the download begins — but our 30-day policy above still applies. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

07 — Support

Support is provided by email at support@tackstudio.co and covers installation, activation, and bugs in the Products. It doesn't cover custom development, project-specific troubleshooting, or guaranteed response times — though we aim to reply within 2 working days.

08 — Warranty disclaimer

The Products and the App are provided "as is". While we work hard to make them reliable, we don't warrant that they will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for your particular purpose, or that they will remain compatible with future versions of After Effects or your operating system. Always save and back up your projects — you are responsible for your own work and data.

09 — Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including lost profits, lost data, corrupted projects, or missed deadlines — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Products, the App, or the website. Our total liability to you in connection with any Product is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under UK law. If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

10 — Website

The website may contain links to third-party sites and services we don't control, and we're not responsible for their content or practices. We update the website regularly and can't guarantee that all information on it is complete, current, or error-free; we may correct errors and change information at any time.

11 — Termination

We may suspend or revoke your license without refund if you materially breach these terms — for example, by sharing keys or redistributing the Products. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability) will do so.

12 — Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute — except that if you're a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections and courts of the country you live in.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of it.

13 — Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Material changes will be flagged on this page and by email to existing customers, and your continued use of the Products after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
