Tack Studio ("we", "us") builds and sells extensions and plugins for Adobe After Effects, along with related desktop software. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit our website, buy our products, or use our software — and what we do with it.
We're based in the United Kingdom and comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. If you're in the EU, the EU GDPR applies to you in the same way.
01 — The short version
Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. We never see or store your card details. Our extensions don't track you. They contain no usage analytics and only contact our server to validate your license. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't use third-party ad trackers.
02 — What we collect and why
When you buy a product. Purchases are processed by Polar Software Inc. ("Polar"), acting as merchant of record. When you check out, Polar collects your name, email address, billing country, and payment details. Polar handles payment processing, invoicing, and applicable taxes (VAT/GST) under its own privacy policy at polar.sh/legal/privacy. From Polar, we receive your email address and order details — the product purchased, license key, and order date. We use these to deliver your license key and activate your product (necessary to fulfil our contract with you), to provide customer support and handle refunds, and to keep records for tax and accounting purposes (a legal obligation).
When you use our software. Our extensions and apps do not collect usage analytics or telemetry. They don't track which features you use, and they never access your project contents or files beyond what's needed to perform the action you asked for. When you activate or validate a license, our server receives your license key and product version to confirm the license is valid — this is necessary to fulfil our contract with you. Other than this, our software does not communicate with our servers.
When you contact us. If you email us for support, we'll have your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to help you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing support.
When you visit our website. Our providers may process technical data such as IP addresses in server logs as part of delivering the sites. [We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking on our website.]
Marketing emails. [We only send marketing emails if you've opted in, or if you're an existing customer and the email relates to similar products (the "soft opt-in"). Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.]
03 — Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers we need to run the business. We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we don't share it with advertisers.
04 — International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK (for example, in the United States). Where that happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement / standard contractual clauses.
05 — How long we keep data
We keep order and license records for as long as your license is active, plus up to 6 years afterwards for tax and accounting purposes.
06 — Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to our processing of it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email us at support@tackstudio.co — we'll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. If you're in the EU, you can complain to your local supervisory authority instead.
07 — Children
Our products and website are not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
08 — Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and notify existing customers by email where appropriate.
